Position Overview

The Monterey County Crisis Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and guiding Mobile Crisis services and personnel serving Monterey County. This role provides clinical supervision, operational leadership, and administrative oversight to ensure high-quality crisis response services, regulatory compliance, and strong collaboration with county partners and community stakeholders. The position is primarily onsite in Salinas, California, and plays a critical leadership role within the Mobile Crisis program.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical & Program Oversight

  • Provide clinical supervision and consultation for Mobile Crisis staff during business hours.
  • Remain actively involved in complex or high-risk cases requiring additional oversight.
  • Ensure high-quality, ethical, and compliant crisis service delivery.

County & Community Partnership

  • Attend county meetings and engage with Monterey County representatives to maintain a successful crisis program.
  • Build and sustain positive working relationships with community partners and parallel service providers.
  • Collaborate with county stakeholders on complex cases and program processes as needed.

Staff Leadership & Supervision

  • Oversee recruitment and hiring for Monterey County Mobile Crisis staff, including resume review, interviews, and hiring decisions.
  • Provide coaching, performance management, and disciplinary support in collaboration with HR.
  • Coordinate onboarding and ongoing training for all Mobile Crisis employees.
  • Foster a supportive, accountable, and mission-driven team culture.

Operational & Administrative Management

  • Manage monthly Mobile Crisis staff schedules to ensure full coverage per contract requirements.
  • Oversee documentation compliance, including routine audits for accuracy, timeliness, and special needs cases.
  • Partner with Payroll to review and approve employee timesheets and time-off requests.
  • Participate in agency-wide leadership meetings, special projects, and additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Active California professional license as LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC , or within six (6) months of obtaining licensure.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing community-based mental health crisis services.
  • At least two (2) years of supervisory experience in crisis or behavioral health services (preferred).
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in supervising multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain respectful, effective relationships with staff, supervisors, and community partners.
  • Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Additional after-hours support may be required evenings or weekends as needed.
  • Work Location: Primarily onsite in Salinas, CA (remote work from another county is not permitted).
  • Travel: Local travel throughout Monterey County for meetings and crisis-related engagements.
